Cooperation of nursing staff with the ostomy nurse
HÁLOVÁ, Kateřina
The bachelor thesis is focused on cooperation between stoma nurses and general nurses, their procedures in the education of stoma patients, and nursing problems related to stomas. The bachelor thesis is divided into two parts - theoretical part and research part. The theoretical part contains characteristics of a stoma nurse, stoma, stoma indications, complications and appropriate stoma care. It also defines cooperation among healthcare staff, and education of ostomates. The research part is focused on cooperation between stoma nurses and general nurses, education of ostomates, and the most common nursing problems related to stomas. Two objectives were set for the research part, namely: To explore cooperation between nursing staff and stoma nurses. To identify the most common nursing problems encountered by stoma nurses in the education of nurses. This part had the form of a qualitative research survey using semi-structured interviews. Interviews were taken with two research sets. The first set consisted of three stoma nurses and the other one of four general nurses. After theoretical saturation was reached, the information was processed in the form of open coding and was subsequently categorized into seven categories. The results show that cooperation between stoma nurses and general nurses in taking care of ostomates is very common. In most cases such cooperation involves professional help in dealing with complications, provision of stoma care supplies, or patient education. Concerning the second objective, it has been found out that the most common problem in the education of nurses is poorly cut holes in ostomy bags and subsequent occurrence of complications. It has also been found out that stoma nurses try to educate staff in accordance with their nursing procedures so that the education of patients is of the highest quality possible. The findings were used to create an information material for nurses and students of nursing professions.
Prevention of complications arising during stoma from the nursing point of view.
ŠMEJKALOVÁ, Alžběta
This bachelor thesis explores nurses' perspective on the prevention of complications arising during a stoma. A stoma is a temporary or permanent opening of a hollow organ on the surface of the body. The condition of stoma complications can be prevented by a correct and early treatment of it. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to determine the specifics that allow nurses to prevent any complications arising from stoma. To address this aim, the following research questions were formulated: How do nurses educate patients with a stoma? What care options currently exist for a patient with stoma complications? The research sample consisted of ten nurses. Four of those nurses had completed a course or training on stoma care. Qualitative research was chosen for the implementation of the empirical part. To collect data for this research, a number of semi-structured interviews were conducted with both general and stoma care nurses. The interviews were transcribed verbatim, and the obtained information was then coded and categorised. The research took place in March 2021. The results of this bachelor thesis are divided into eight individual categories: education of nurses, types of stoma, stoma dressing, stoma aids, stoma complications, education of patients with stoma, organisations cooperating with stoma patients, and disadvantages of people with stoma. The results that emerged from the interviews with the nurses showed that they regularly treat stomas and have limited knowledge on how to educate patients about stoma and how to prevent stoma complications. The research revealed that the nurses were aware of the key elements of stoma education and regularly educated their patients. Furthermore, the data also showed that they actively tried to overcome stoma complications. If any stoma complication occurred, the nurses consulted the relevant professionals. The findings of this research can be used as study materials for students of medical major and medical staff.

Ostomy Devices Utilization in Practice
Štroblová, Martina ; Hošťálková, Monika (advisor) ; Otradovcová, Iva (referee)
The thesis is focused on the use of stoma care in practice. The work consists of two parts. The first part is theoretical. This section is devoted to the anatomy and physiology of the gastrointestinal tract, additional chapters are devoted to the main theme, which is colostomy. There is history and development of stoma care, indications for the colostomy performance and possible complications. Another large part of the total is the nursing part where I attend nursing care of the patient with colostomy, this includes stoma care, peristomal area care, mental health care, nutrition and hydration care. There is also included a chapter about education of the patient and family members. The empirical part focuses on the research, where the method of the data collection is an anonymous questionnaire. The survey was conducted in the surgical clinic with 48 patients with colostomy. The aim of the research was to objectively evaluate and to highlight the advantages and disadvantages of stoma care, find out in which areas of daily activities the largest problem with colostomy patients occurred in terms of the adaptation process, and to improve the lives of the patients with ostomy as well.I found out how much needed a qualified stoma nurse is. I see her importance in the care of stoma patients.
Autecological study of selected Cretaceous plants using stable Carbon isotopes
Zahajská, Petra ; Kvaček, Jiří (advisor) ; Diefendorf, Aaron (referee)
1 Abstract This thesis presents an analysis of fossil plants from the Cenomanian Peruc-Korycany Formation of the Bohemian Cretaceous Basin and from the Bückeberg Formation of the Lower Saxony Basin in Germany. Based on earlier studies, both areas provide sediments that are considered to have developed in tidally influenced fluvial systems. Studied fossil plants are represented by ginkgoalean plant leaves (Ertemophyllum, Tritaenia), branches of conifers (Frenelopsis) and lauroid angiosperms (Eucalyptolaurus). Frenelopsis, Eretmophyllum and Tritaenia are considered to be halophytic plants, while Lauroid angiosperms were considered to grow in fresh water conditions. The fossil plants were studied using cuticle analysis and two methods of stable carbon isotope analysis: Bulk carbon isotope analysis and Compound Specific Isotope analysis. For cuticle analysis samples were observed and documented macroscopically and microscopically. To specify the environmental conditions, recent samples from three salt marshes in Great Britain were studied and analysed using the same methods as the fossil samples. The data from all observations and measurements were processed and their interpretation supported the modelled environment based on the sedimentological data. Frenelopsis were growing in a haline environment with low...
Return to life and its quality in patients after acute intestinal resection
Radošová, Alena ; Kulhavá, Miluše (advisor) ; Pucholtová, Romana (referee)
Introduction: Quality of life is a long-term goal in nursing care. Nursing care in improving the quality of life should focus not only on physical aspects, but especially on support to return to everyday life, managing daily activities, at least to the extent that the patient has been able to handle them before staying at hospital. Methodology: The aim of the work was to evaluate the quality of life of patients before and after staying in ICU with a focus on patients after acute surgery associated with intestinal resection. The research sample consisted of patients who underwent acute surgery associated with intestinal resection and ICU staying. Quality of life was assessed before hospitalization and 3 months after discharging from the ICU. We have chosen SOFA, APACHE scoring systems to obtain data. The quality of life before hospitalization was evaluated by SF-36 and ADL, IADL questionnaires for daily activities. In the ICU dismission, the patients completed HADS (anxiety, depression), MAF (fatigue) questionnaires, 6-minute walk and sit / stand test. After the third month of convalescence, patients completed questionnaires: SF-36, IADL, ADL, HADS, MAF and 6. minute walk and sit / stand test. Results: 38 patients were evaluated. We found a significant difference in the development of all observed...

This thesis focuses on patients who have an established ileostomy or colostomy. The aim of the thesis was to determine the indications for stoma. Another aim found out how stoma influenced lives of the respondents particularly in working and sexual life. Third aim dealt with the quality of life of the respondents. The last aim, I examined how respondents coped with a stoma. The work is divided in theoretical part and practical part. The theoretical part introduces general issue of the stoma (the types and indications for installation). Furthermore, this work deals with the active lifes of stoma patients, their working and sexual issues. There are also described the complications that may arise after the restoration of the stoma. In the practical part, I focused on the process of interviews and deduce predetermined goals. The data were obtained by using semi-structured interview with persons with established stoma in the age range of 20-30 years. The research was conducted in six respondents who were properly informed about the purpose of data collection and with their consent and interest to participate in the interview, they answered predetermined questions. The results show that the quality of life has improved in most cases of respondents after the installation of the stoma. The greatest support...
